Comment #16 – Miz Helen – “Hi Trisha,Congratulations on your 200th post! I have followed your blog for a long time and always enjoy your post. This is a great cookbook that would be a perfect addition to my collection of well over 200 hundred cookbooks. My favorite of all of those is the one that my Grandmother wrote in her own hand writing, it is awesome! Thanks for sharing with us!

Congratulations Miz Helen!

Can you believe it? This is my 200th post. I’m pleasantly surprised. When I started out, I thought I would be able to keep going for a while, but was wondering how long that would be. Turns out I ♥ blogging. I also absolutely love checking out other blogs, getting to know the bloggers and checking out their wonderful creations. Its been really inspiring.

Of course, my primary source of inspiration comes from the piles of recipe books that I own. I can tell you that this habit started a long time ago. I remember right from my college days, I would gather my pocket money and spend it on recipe books, specially the ones with fabulous pictures. In those days, I didn’t really check the index out too keenly. I must also tell you that back then, I wasn’t too keen on cooking. I took special interest only in sweets and cakes. So my first few books were mostly about desserts. I still remember my Mum getting frantic each time I came home with yet another book. I could spend hours admiring them but never really got into the kitchen to whip up something. So her concern was “what ever was I going to do with my ever growing pile of cookbooks, considering I never used them?” Well Mum, I’m glad to report that I now use every single one of them and I’m really happy that I picked them up when I did.

Its now more than 10 years later and I still have a thing for cookbooks. Needless to say, there is also loads of information, recipes and pictures on endless sites and food blogs. So my growing stack of recipe books is in check, though I still add to it regularly.

I thought I would take this occasion to give something back. I want to say “Thank you” to each and every one of you who stop by regularly or just the once, those who follow my blog publicly or silently – in the shadows – I would really like to know you better, so if you are one of those who just stops by once in a while or leaves me anonymous comments, its time for you to step out of the shadows 🙂 and also all you wonderful folks that take time out to leave me comments, I do love comments, so please keep the love coming. And it doesn’t end at that. I’m going to give you the opportunity to participate in my first ever giveaway. I recently came across this beauty of a book on desserts and one lucky ready will have their very own copy.

This gorgeous book is something one should have handy. Its filled with wonderful dessert recipes covering a wide variety of goodies like meringues, souffles, mousses, pies, chocolate desserts, puddings, frozen desserts, fruit desserts to name a few, complete with gorgeous pictures and all.

Hard to choose a favorite, but definitely one that tops my list is a cook book by Vincent Price (remember him in the creepy movies?) and his wife where they visited fine restaurants all over the world and got the chefs to share their recipes:)

  5. hi trisha thanks for visiting my blog! nice to see you again! I rememebr you being one of my first few visitors, when I first started out and didn't have much followers at all, and you even asked whether I had a fb page but I didn't then. It's amazing how far we've all come huh! The giveaway is really generous, I don't have many cookbooks so I can't choose a favourite. I like tojsut get inspired by many sources, though In At The Deep End by Jake Tilson is very inspiring I find, not really for the recipes, but the beautiful graphics!

  11. I'm guessing I own about 30 cookbooks. But it's funny, I stick with my few favorites. It would be hard to choose one favorite, although it would likely be one of my Barefoot Contessa cookbooks. She always has a great selection of recipes, I've always had success with her recipes, and the photos are beautiful!

  12. Thanks for visiting my blog & congrats on your 200th post

I have about half a dozen cookbooks but my current favourite is my ring binder that I am filling with magazine cut-outs and print-outs from the web & photocopies of recipes from cookbooks of friends

  17. COngrats on your 200. I just completed mine a week back and completely missed it!! Following you now!

I have lots of cookbooks, don't know how many but my favorite is this cookbook by Jiggs Kalra. Its very poorly designed but the recipes are always spot on!

  18. congratulations on 200 posts! I too am an avid collector of cookbooks, even though I seldom use them 🙂

  19. Hey Trisha! Congrats on this achievement, I haven't quite reached 200 yet. I personally, like, bought with my own money own about 5 or 6 cookbooks. I'm really into the Momofuku Milk Bar book right now. It's so unique! But for the classics, I really like the Williams Sonoma Dessert book. It taught me a lot of the basics.

  20. Followed! I have a lot of cookbooks (seriously, an entire bookcase filled with them), but one of my favorites is my Martha Stewart Baking Cookbook. I get inspired just flipping through the pages.

  21. I am a follower Trisha for a long time! Congrats on your 200th post. I have many cookbooks so many i don't even know their number. I love them all!

  22. I'm your newest follower and I have way too many cookbooks! Unfortunately, I get most of my recipes now from various blogs but I do have a few cookbooks that I refer to more often than others. When I'm looking for an old favorite, I turn to my Southern Living cookbook. When I want a quick dessert, I turn to Small Batch Baking. I'd love to look through this easy dessert book! The cover looks divine (:

  23. Congratulations on 200 posts! So glad you're putting your cookbook collection to good use. I need to use mine more. I probably still use my Betty Crocker cookbook that I got over 30 years ago the most.

  24. Thanks for visiting my blog! I can't wait to explore this one. How many cookbooks do I own? Over 100…I love reading through them and getting ideas. My favorites are the ones that tell a little story with the recipe–something about the person who shared it with the author, a childhood memory associated with it…things like that. Which ONE is my favorite? So tough to choose! I guess Michele Urvater's Monday to Friday Cookbook; this one inspired me to cook "outside the recipe," to learn techniques and try variations.
